So...tonight, I get to make the rest of Jaytee's costume for Halloween. I've frakked my hands up slightly building the frame for the darn thing but it's almost done. I'm building him a 'flying saucer' our of wire, duct tape, mylar emergency blankets and sheer determination. Yeah...it's crazy. But he's going as Falcon Heene / Balloon Boy for Halloween. ^_^ Should be fun. ^_~

I'm going as one of my favorite artistas of all time. Frida Kahlo. Everyone keeps asking me why Jaytee didn't go as Diego. His words when I suggested Diego..."no one will know who the hell I am!". I'm like..."Dude...one of the most world famous muralists from Mexico...AND you're with Frida. People will know!". I really think it's because he didn't want to wear a fat suit. ^_~ Of course...it's also because Diego Rivera isnt' shocking nor current enough. He also wouldn't get the same kind of attention. I've also got to get sandals of some sort to go with my costume. I've got this great big traditional looking skirt...a 1940-1950 looking top...an old Dorothy Gale (Oz) wig that I bundled the pig tales above the head and wrapped with ribbon and put REALLY BIG flowers in...and a fringed black shawl...and a colorful frida painting shall to go underneath. And the finishing touch...Big-Ass-Art-Teacher-Jewelry! I made this necklace out of sculpey clay with a big-honkin' turquiose shell and some red beads with the turquoise. Pretty cool! ^_^


Okay...that's what's going on in my world....

I've been reading about Yemaya/Yemanja lately...Yoruban Ocean Goddess. She totally seems like yet another reflection of Isis. God...I really love Mother Goddesses. Reading more about Dea Matrona, Modron, Demeter...connects me somehow to Isis. Funny, nez pas? It also amuses me to no end that I couldn't connect with just one Goddess and one culture. So which Goddess comes to me in meditation? She of 10,000 names. Yeah, I'm down with that. Oh dear crazy humans...the ideas that we use to separate and segregate are so thin and flimsy in the face of eternity.

Anyone? I've had *really* REALLY bad dreams three nights in a row...the kind where I'm waking myself up from them at least three times a night. I've been going to bed at a decent hour...didn't have spicy or exotic food before bed...and generally had happy days this weekend...but these three nights I've experienced really just gruesome horrid dreams. And when I do get up from them I'm exhausted and I've got like a residual bad attitude from them. Any suggestions? I'm tired and grumpy so anythings gotta be good at this point.

This comes out on Oct 16th and I just may have to see it on opening night. ^_^

It seems almost a modern human construct to assume that there will *always* be more.
And many times, I just buy into that philosophy. But things have gotten tight at home
in the budget department. Tighter than I'd like. And yet Rabbit keeps insisting (in
meditation) that there is an important lesson there. So I was drawn back this morning to
the site above and the words were like a loud echo from my meditation. Times of abundance,
times of lack....feast then famine then feast...the cycles. So for the moment, we will save
and act with wisdom. And with some hope and maybe a little Demeter-assistance there will
be a better "harvest" coming.

I promise...I'll try not to post too many videos...

Hey there folks...

Went to ComicCon this weekend. It was a blast, though admittedly I travel a bit like a cat.
That is to say, not very well. Jaytee's okay with winging it / figure it out on the fly
kind of plans. Myself, now, I like a good set of plans. Changeable plans are good too...but
going out without any plan to me is nerve-wracking. Friday was good...we parked about old
town San Diego and rode the Coaster in. It was a great train ride, fancy machine but the pace
was slow enough to calm my nerves. We were able to share part of a room with my friend Jody
and got settled in. Saturday was amazing, sooo many wonderful people in costume and loads of
things to see and buy. I refrained and bought small, though there was a 1:4 sized Wonder Woman
statue that I really REALLY want. She's dressed in her battle armor wielding her labrys. HOT.
Of course the thing is like 300 dollars...so it's going to have to wait a while. I also was
lucky enough to get into the True Blood panel. Great actors...really good stage presence.
It was so cute how shy Anna Paquin was. I also scored some free True Blood swag from the con.
Later that night, had a mini-date with my husband. Next morning sadly we found out that the
Coaster train that brought us doesn't run service on Sundays. Sadness. While we were trying
to figure out how to return home at the train station, I got to see Zoe Bell...from
Deathproof. She was also the stunt double in the later seasons of Xena as well as the stunt
double for Uma Thurman in Kill Bill.
So...we figured the smartest idea was ask Jody for a ride to our car when he was leaving. He
left at 4 after a panel. And sure enough car was still at the train station. Yay! I had been
worried, because after looking for the station address I saw a note on the page about how 24
hrs only parking is allowed. And that cars may be towed after that. Yeah...I kinda freaked
out. Glad to say it was there and we were headed home.

if anybody out there can help....My friend Evelyn...he daughter is moving and her bf's children are allergic to cats. So she's got to get rid of her pet.

I'm halfway through the first season of True Blood on dvd. Such vampire-y fun.

We also went to see Transformers 2 last night. Fun ride, lots of explosions. So much so they blew a bunch of holes in the plot. ^_~

tonight is more napping to get back on track. Went to bed at 11pm because TF2 was such a long film... 150 minutes. Wow!

I GOT SOME REALLY GREAT SLEEP LAST NIGHT!!

I'm not cranky or lazy at all today...I mean, I've been hard at work surfing the net for something like two hours now... ^_^

Today is the day when I compile my employee's payroll together...
and I'd rather be at home, drawing. ^_^

I've been working copying one of my favorite artists Lauren Montgomery. (not the porn star). She worked on Avatar and did both the Wonder Woman animated film and the Green Lantern one. She is "made of awesome" and I can attest to that. Well, she had this great 50's looking vintage wonder woman she'd drawn...I've been working on my own version of it, and trying to play in photoshop with it. ^__^

In other news, is it Friday yet?

I'm going with my friend tonight to see Transformers, Revenge of the Fallen. I'm looking forward to watching it...and seeing the Last Airbender trailer on the big screen.

you know you've been watching too much Buffy the Vampire Slayer...when you dream you sell your soul to a demon for more sleep time. I did..something about hitting the snooze button....

it's official...I'm a Buffy fan.

I bought the first two seasons at Target the other week..20 bucks for both together.
Then...I was hooked, and got the next two seasons on Amazon for cheap. ^_^

Given my Xena fandom...it figures I could get into a show with women kicking ass.

I received my official membership in the Fellowship of Isis recently.

w00t for paganism. ^__^

I'm really..REALLY, digging Isis in a way that I haven't before...it's hard to put into words. There've been tons of little synchronicities happening, signposts if you will...
In reading a great aretology of Isis on Neos Alexandria...a suggested devotion to Isis was practicing Magick. Hmmm...sounds like an avenue I certainly haven't explored.

In stranger news...my step-mom discovered my altar the other day. I'd taken some pictures to actually upload here on lj. and I was showing her something else, and off she went just browsing my pictures. She's like, "What's that a picture of???"....I said, "Oh...just my Goddess shelf". I pointed out some of the Goddesses she would know, and of course I've got a virgin mary on there. ^_^
